Over the past year, Google has pretty much set about eliminating any competitive advantages other than the quality of the on-page content itself. They seem intent on levelling the playing field to the point that those who previously had aces up their sleeves now gain no advantage whatsoever. Moreover, playing an ace from a sleeve may now result in a salvo of punitive measures.

Strategic Advertising Solutions for Your Products/Services!

Some might say that this approach flies somewhat in the face of the irrepressible human spirit of competition. However, it's equally fair to say that it is often the laziest among us who can't or won't create unique and original content. There is general agreement that the best content ought to appear first, rather than thin content, artificially promoted by an SEO's smoke and mirrors. I'm all for that - its fair and equitable.

Search Engine De-Optimization
Search engine de-optimization (SED) ought now be an important consideration. Basically, every technique previously used to support the magic of SEO has been negated in the past year. Google's ability to detect good content from the mediocre, and filter out the smoke haze that SEO often employs to make the ordinary appear extraordinary, has advanced dramatically.

Almost every little possibility to improve our performance over and above the competition has not only been neutralized, it has been turned back upon us. In fact, there seem to have been assaults on the old methodologies from multiple directions.

Clutter: The Ruin of a Great Website

By Kelly Sims (c) 2013

Thanks to TLC's and A&E's hit series' on hoarding, a serious problem that was previously, for the most part, hidden from the world has been revealed: some people live in filth and clutter. I'm here to tell you that this problem doesn't only exist in private homes, hidden away from prying eyes; it runs rampant online as well. Websites also fall victim to clutter. While sometimes amusing to look at, these sites are in reality, no laughing matter. Not only are they hard on the eyes of visitors, but they are also to blame for lost sales and revenues. I'm not just talking about the neon yellow on black with purple stripes and flashing banners type of website either (although please, for the love of all that is good…

Five Ways to Use LinkedIn for Social Media Marketing

By Gregg Schwartz (c) 2013

My company started a very popular LinkedIn consortium that now has more than 5,000 members. Our experience using LinkedIn for social media marketing has shown us several key strategies that entrepreneurs and business owners need to keep in mind if they want to use social media for lead generation. Position yourself as an expert. One of the best ways to use LinkedIn for lead generation is to become recognized as an expert in your field. You don't have time to be on LinkedIn posting articles all day - instead, find some high-quality content that really sheds…

"Yahoo News will get smarter over time - the more you use it when signed in with your Yahoo ID, the more it learns about your preferences, creating a personal news hub just for you. And the new News is super fast, articles…

Facebook Working on Chat Room Feature: Report

By SPN Staff Writers (c) 2013

Chat rooms could soon be in Facebook's future. According to TechCrunch, the social network is testing the feature in a bid to get "viral" discussions going among Facebook friends. The chat rooms would enable members to "host" a discussion simply by clicking the "Host Chat" button at the top their home page, sources told TechCrunch. Once a member clicks to host a chat, any of that person's friends can join the discussion. Chat would be hosted through News Feed as the default setting, although users have the option of changing the privacy level to suit them. So far, the chat rooms support text only - no video, according to the report. It is thought Facebook chat…
